"them are some big guns"

Hard to keep a straight face when your eight year old lifts up his sleeve and says in the most serious voice "mom look at my big guns"!!

A good sled

As much as I dislike winter, I cant deny that a day sledding followed by warm hot chocolate is one of winters perks!

If he were president...

My son frequently comes home with piles of paperwork from school. Usually I just quickly glance over, and set aside, however that pile of set aside is getting big so today I was going through it to decide what to keep and what to throw when I found this Gem. He was 7 when he wrote it just weeks away from turning eight. Forgive his spelling he did it without help and wrote the words as they sounded. I will translate
"If I were president I would help schools save money and help old people. I would send storm chasers when there is a tornado to warn people. I would cut the price on oil and airplane rides. I would save animals and find homes for them."
As his mom, I say this Gem goes in with family treasures.

Migrate

Happy New Year!
My holiday buzz is wearing off, life and its routines are getting back to normal. Winter is knocking hard at the door and I am as usual getting my "time to migrate itch". Every year around this time, I start thinking/dreaming about warmer- greener pastures. I become glued to my computer looking for fantastic vacation deals. We don't travel every winter but try to every few years. This winter will be one of those stay home years, however I do start looking and planning like some crazed fool I start dreaming of my next vacation- it helps me get through. I also become attached to the travel channel dreaming that I am in the exotic ports its showcasing. This year my winter trips will be local, maybe a flower show, a few movies, ? a day trip to Boston? Skiers and snowmobilers will be in their element thanking heavens for winter and I will be the one praying for spring.
