a bit o green

Hopes of spring were buried under, (insert curse word here) two feet of snow this week, with more to come. Yes I am sick about it all. I think I am starting to go a little nuts, found myself going through my closet and talking to my sandals "hello old friends" I told them.
My husbands beard is growing long and thick, he likes to grow it in winter to keep warm, but at this rate I told him its bad enough to scare small children ( he should beware of crazy wife with clippers during the night).
We do have one oasis in the sea of white out the window. One small patch of green. My sons silly Chia pet knock-off sits on the window sill growing a head of green grassy hair- and although it doesn't require a lawn mower for a trim it does remind us that it wont be long before we hear the familiar putter of the lawn mower out clipping the grass on our front lawn.-----ahh one can dream

Too Ra Loo Ra Loo Ral

She used to sing it to us, my sister and I. When we would visit my proud Grandmother of strong Irish heritage she would make a point to tuck us in and sing Irish lullaby. I am happily haunted this time every year by some of those lyrics. I know St Patricks day is weeks away, but its pending arrival makes me think of her, my grandmother, and the music from those lullabies makes me smile.

Dont eat the mailbox!!

So my son is having a valentines day party at school. To get ready his weekend homework was to design a mailbox. It is contest and prizes are to be awarded for most creative, most colorful etc... More or less everyone will get a prize. The second he got home Friday this box was his mission. He picked a robins blue paint from my crafty stash of supplies, and then Sunday spent half the day with a glue gun gluing candy hearts to the top. I must say it is a neat mailbox, but the best part was listening to him lecture his father "Don't eat the mailbox"..... There is a sentence you don't hear everyday.

Getting Lost

I'm trying to stay positive this winter. Its hard to have a good attitude or stay positve. Like today trying to build a snowman with my son we rolled the bottom end right through a pile of over looked dog dodo- my sons response "guess there are worse things then yellow snow" was funny but it put and end to me trying to make the best of a winter day. I do try ,I get catalogs almost every day advertising items for summer and I remind myself "they wouldn't spend so much if summer wasn't coming?". I thought about cranking the heat, putting on some shorts, flip flops and some tropical music along with making myself a fruity drink to convince myself I am in warmer climate- but I got the oil bill today and that's always a buzz crusher. I do have one winter favorite, the one thing (alright other then family the one thing) that gets me through and that's the return of "LOST". I just picture myself Lost with either Jack or Sawyer and AHHHH!(sorry dear hubby I love you but you can be lost with Hurley or Kate).
